From Pig to Pork

At this popular winter event, museum visitors gain fascinating insights into the butcher’s trade of earlier times and can watch traditional sausage production in the slaughterhouse kitchen through the window. In the historic bakehouse from Probbach, hearty cakes made from bread dough, sausage, and bacon are baked, and in the house from Nieder-Gemünden, smoking is on the program.
Children can explore the permanent exhibition “Pig Worlds: Stable Stories About Humans and Bristly Animals” in the pigsty from Oberkalbach or felt little piglets in the house from Ewersbach.
