Spinning Parlour

In the spinning room, the women and girls of a village would gather during the winter to carry out essential household tasks. Demonstrations of spinning, embroidery, and knitting show how flax and wool were processed and how warm clothing and winter textiles were once made by hand. In this convivial setting, stories and fairy tales were also an important part of the gathering.
