Brewing Exhibition

Historical Brew
The exhibition shows how beer is made from the four ingredients permitted by the German Reinheitsgebot or purity law (water, barley, hops and yeast) and it traces the beer’s way to where and how it is consumed. In doing so, the individual steps in the brewing process, that is, mashing, simmering, cooking the wort, cooling, filtering and fermentation are documented, as are barrelling/bottling and storing. Fascinating objects, among them a grist mill, malt scales, a barrelling tool, a labelling machine, a bottle cleaning array and the bag of a beer drayman, complete the exhibition and make the visit a visual treat, which will inspire you to enjoy a nicely chilled lager in one of the museum’s licensed establishments.

Remsfeld and Martin’s Tavern
The upper floor of the former inn houses an exhibition that follows the history of the village of Remsfeld as well as of Martin’s Tavern and its former inhabitants. In addition, two guest rooms were furnished in the style of the 1950s. The exhibition explores the topic of the importance of mobility, particularly the railway and the motorway, for the development of Remsfeld and Martin’s Tavern. Historic photographs and a sound archive give a good impression of what went on in Martin’s Tavern in the 1950s.
