This small timber-framed edifice from the Odenwald region was once a combination of two individual buildings. The front half with the two portals was used to store the new fire pumper acquired in 1897, while the back half was used as the firewood store for the teacher who lived ten metres away in the village town hall. The entire left gable side was laid in brick. This was done to serve as a fire shield against an immediately neighbouring barn.
Inside, the small exhibition “Fire and Flame” is on display. It focuses on fire-fighting and brings to life the history of the fire service through the story of the former fire station from Hainstadt.
