Goldsmiths

A goldsmith’s workshop was established in co-operation with the State Academy of Drawing, the Hessenpark Open Air Museum, Made in Hanau and the Society of Goldsmith’s Art, and was opened on the marketplace in April 2015. Graduates of the State Academy of Drawing have the opportunity to establish themselves as self-employed craftspeople. This goldsmith’s workshop is currently run by the museum’s goldsmith, Marcel Schweer. He is supported by graduates of the Academy, Sara Pukall and Bianca Turner.

Visitors to the goldsmith’s workshop find jewellery and selected pieces by goldsmiths from the region under the slogan “Schmuck aus Hessen” (jewellery from Hesse). The Hessenpark is a popular location for weddings, so it is no surprise that personalised wedding rings can also be made and obtained here.

In addition the range of goods on sale, visitors also have the opportunity to watch the goldsmiths at work – or even make an item of jewellery themselves in one of the courses on offer.
